Markers indicate over a dozen shots fired in Kilgore shootout Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -

On Tuesday morning, 32-year-old Elizabeth Ann Vinson of Kilgore was found shot to death inside a vehicle outside her home on the 1900 block of Highway 31. Investigators say the gunman, Randy Vinson then instigated a standoff with police and was shot by officers after he opened fire with an assault rifle.

We visited the bridge Wednesday where the shootout happened, and saw a number of paint markers, which are usually used by investigators to mark where shell casings fell.

We counted 17 of the markers.

Right now, a motive for the shooting of Elizabeth Vinson has not been released.

Four Kilgore officers and one Gregg County Sheriff's deputy connected to the shooting of Randy Vinson have been placed on administrative leave while Texas rangers investigate.
