Harsh winter not impacting home building, group says
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
It doesn't appear the harsh winter is impacting home building in three Tri-State counties.
Single-family home permits increased last month in Butler, Clermont and Warren counties compared to January 2013, the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati announced Monday. Only Hamilton County saw a decrease.
A total of 131 single-family permits were issued in
Clermont, Butler, Hamilton and Warren counties during January, compared to 116
during the first month of last year, the HBA said.
Warren County led with 40 permits, followed by Butler with
35 and Clermont with 33. Hamilton County permits dropped to 23 from 32 over the
Overall permits increased by 12.9 percent last month compared to January of 2013.
"One month is only a sliver of time but it does appear that
consumer confidence has continued into 2014 in spite of the unusual winter
weather conditions," said Dan Dressman, the HBA's executive director. "Once the
weather breaks we expect the market to pick up dramatically."
