Village of Glendale considering new leash law

Posted: Updated:
GLENDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Big changes might be coming to the Village of Glendale when it comes to walking your dog.

the Village of Glendale Council is considering passing an ordinance update that could force dog owners to keep their dogs on a leash when they're out in public.

The Village of Glendale plans discuss the new law tonight. This is an update on a current ordinance that is already in place from 2010.

The 2010 ordinance stated that Glendale residents were not required to use a leash as long as they maintained control over their dog.

This update comes because of the several instances where people have reported dogs attacking other dogs and even other people. In fact, one of the incidences required someone to have surgery.

If the law is passed, you dog does not need to be on a leash as long as you're on your own property. However, as soon as you step off your property, your dog does need to be restrained with a leash.

The council will be taking a vote on this later in the season but they want to hear from the people tonight.

This meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. so any feedback you can give is welcomed.

If you are unable to attend then you can email your comments to Glendale Councilwoman and Vice Mayor Debbie Grueninger at dgrueninger@glendaleohio.org.
