East Texas children are having fun and learning a few life lessons through fishing.
Hundreds of people showed up at Teague park in Longview Saturday for the 23rd annual "Kids Fishing Day". The city stocked the pond with 25-hundred rainbow trout. We saw big smiles as the kids reeled in their fish. Others learned some things, like fishing requires patience.
Free bait and fishing poles were handed out along with a few prizes. The event is sponsored by the City of Longview's "Partners in Prevention". Organizers say it gives kids a chance to have their own fishing experience.
