A man who was pinned under a tree Thursday has died from his injuries.
The man, identified as Sam Houston Johnson of Whitehouse by a source close to the family, became trapped under the tree on his property in the 17000 block of County Road 136 in Smith County around noon on Thursday.
According to the Flint-Gresham Volunteer Fire Department, Johnson was cutting a tree with a chainsaw when the tree, which was 15" in diameter, fell on him. His wife was able to get him out from under the tree using a logging skidder.
Johnson was transported by ambulance to Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Sources tell KLTV that he died on Thursday evening of his injuries.
