Police: Marijuana trafficking becoming huge problem in northern counties

Posted: Updated:
BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Marijuana trafficking has become a huge problem, particularly in the northern counties of the Tri-state. There have been two major drug busts in the past 48 hours.

On Tuesday, two men were taken into custody after Warren County sheriff's deputies discovered 425 pounds of pot during a traffic stop along I-71.

A second drug bust occurred on Wednesday morning in Butler County. Butler County Sheriff's Office spoke Wednesday about an undercover drug investigation in which agents seized 15 pounds of pot, more than $20,000 and a Merecedes-Benz

Three people were arrested, identified as Anthony Broadus, Cameron Schooler and Geran Anderson.

"One of the individuals that we arrested a week and a half ago, we took $11 thousand from him. So this is the same group," said Sheriff Richard Jones.

Jones says marijuana trafficking is a huge problem in Butler County and neighboring Warren County.

"This marijuana isn't like back in the 60s or 70s. The marijuana that they have today is 50 times more potent than what it was in the 60s and 70s," adds Jones.

Jones says the drugs come from Mexico, but he declined to say where.

"We know, but we cannot say at this point. But these drugs were to be distributed in Butler County," explains Jones.
