Wood County residents affected by boil water notice
WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
A boil water notice has been issued by Monarch Utilities for customers in the Holiday Villages of Fork water system located in Wood County. This notice effects approximately 300 homes in Quitman.
Electrical problems at the plant caused a drop in production, resulting in lower pressure and possible outages. Repairs have been made and pressure has been restored, but as a precaution, water samples have been collected and submitted to an independent contract laboratory for testing.
To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooked prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you.
Anyone with questions regarding this notice is encouraged to contact Environment Health and Safety Manager Tim Williford at 512-219-2294.
