Slick conditions create traffic problems for ETX motorists

Contending with slick conditions around East Texas Wednesday morning after a night of freezing rain and sleet.

Gregg County Sheriff's Department is working several wrecks on I-20 between Joy-Wright Mountain Road and Estes Parkway. The Sabine River Bridge is especially bad, according to authorities. Longview Police are also working several slide offs on city streets.

Tyler Police are urging motorists to use caution on elevated roads, especially the Beckham overpass. However, all bridges in Tyler were sanded overnight, and TxDot crews have been out all night keeping bridges and overpasses throughout East Texas sanded. At this time Tyler Police are only working one minor accident.

In Lufkin, crews have been working wrecks on Loop 287 and Highway 59 N. all morning, as well as on the Highway 103 bridge at the Angelina/Nacogdoches County line.

Motorists who have to get out this morning should drive slowly and use caution with the slick conditions around East Texas.
