Sleet and snow moving through central portions of East Texas

Posted: Updated:
(KLTV) -

A large area of sleet and snow continues to move through the central portions of East Texas Friday afternoon.

It is moving fairly quickly toward the east northeast and should be out of the area later Friday afternoon, but not before depositing up to 1" of sleet and snow mix in some locations.

Cherokee, Rusk and Nacogdoches Counties will see the most over the next hour, then moving into Gregg, Harrison, Panola and maybe Shelby Counties. Surrounding areas seeing just a small amount of accumulations as this area moves through.

Winter Weather Advisories are NOT in effect for these areas at this time, however, they may be issued at any time. Slick spots on bridges and overpasses are likely in these areas, so please drive carefully.

Stay tuned for more updates...
