Texas East Gymnastics opens new facility

If it was scored by Olympic judges, it would likely earn a perfect ten.

Texas East Gymnastics has moved across the street from it's original location on Deerbrook Drive in Tyler.

The facility is twice the size of the original.  It's 21 thousand square feet, and includes more floor room, equipment and an additional pre school room.

Coach Martin Parsley says the move was needed to help the Texas East Gymnastics squad continue to grow.   Parsley says The new facility is worthy of a gold medal.

"This is as good of a facility as anybody trains in the country," said Parsley.  "Nastia Liukin's gym is a little larger, Frisco is larger than we are I think. But we have everything all those people have and even some newer apparatus than they have in their gym."

The grand opening for the new facility is Saturday.

The original facility across the street remains open.  It's now being used for the cheer and baton twirling teams.
