LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Former Longview head basketball coach Leroy Romines died at his home Thursday morning.  Romines led the Longview boys basketball team to the 1992 5A state championship.  He was inducted into the Texas HS Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

"He was a great guy," said former Longview athletic director Pat Collins.  "He did a wonderful job with the basketball program. Was well respected by coaches throughout the area.  Really a good guy and I'm sure the Lobo nation will miss him."

In more than three decades of coaching, Romines put together a career record of 714-and-312. Romines won 423 games in Longview over 18 seasons.  He retired in 1996.
