Snow flurries possible across East Texas Thursday afternoon

(KLTV) -

Winter weather has returned to portions of East Texas, Thursday. A weak disturbance is moving across the region bringing just enough moisture in some locations to produce a few snow flurries and snow showers.

Early Thursday morning, moisture began to spread northeast across the region over the cold air already in place. Some locations across Deep East Texas began seeing some sleet and snow hitting the ground. The snow actually accumulated in some locations across Deep East Texas.

A new wave of moisture will be moving across East Texas along and north of I-20 this afternoon. This activity could produce a few more flurries and snow showers, especially across the I-30 corridor.

I do expect all of the flurries and snow showers to come to an end early this afternoon. We will then be left with cloudy skies and cold afternoon temperatures.

Friday starts off dry and cold but another slight chance for a light wintry mix will be possible Friday night across portions of East Texas. The good news is the upcoming weekend looks dry and mild with highs back into the 50s. Another storm system could move our way by the start of next week which could bring more wintry fun to East Texas.

How many days until Spring again?
