Death of man found in Rusk County being investigated as a homicide

RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The death of a man found slumped over his steering wheel off of Highway 64 in Rusk County is now being investigated as a homicide, announced the Rusk County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday evening.

The sheriff says Alfonzia Garland, 64, of Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of County Road 4107 and Highway 64 after he was found in his pickup truck.

An autopsy was ordered to determine cause of death and Garland's body was taken to Dallas, TX to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences.
