Longview Superintendent Accused Of Assault

A U.T. Tyler student claims she was assaulted by the Longview I.S.D. Superintendent as she was working on a class assignment. According to a police incident report, 24 year old Mary Maertins says she had gone to the L.I.S.D. office to seek a copy of superintendent Dana Marables contract. It was part of a school assignment in how to use the Texas public information act.

In the report the student said as she began to reach into her purse to produce identification, Marable grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her back, before forcing her to sit in a chair. Since filing the incident report, the student has decided to drop charges.  The superintendent did not return our calls today. She did tell the Longview News Journal that it was the student who was angry.  Dr. Marable denies the student's accusation.
