Rescue group asks for help fostering dozens of animals

Posted: Updated:
HOHENWALD, TN (WSMV) -

A small Lewis County animal rescue organization is asking for help caring for nearly three dozen dogs and cats that are in bad shape.

The High Forest Humane Society in Hohenwald said a man contacted them because he couldn't care for the animals.

Workers say this is not a case of intentional animal cruelty.

The man's wife left him with 25 to 27 dogs and seven or eight cats to care for on his own, and he can't do it alone.

Several of the dogs are pregnant, and none is spayed or neutered.

Some have hair loss due to fleas or mange, and some are obese.

The High Forest Humane Society is desperately looking for people who can help foster the animals. If you can help, call 931-796-5204.
