Former John Tyler Lion Jeremy Lane played in front of millions of fans tonight. Lane is a member of the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. His mom Latisha was in New Jersey for Super Bowl 48, but the rest of the family threw a big party in Tyler.
"Go Seahawks," Jaya Lane, Jeremy's daughter said.
The anticipation leading up to the big game wasn't only taking its toll on Jeremy. The entire family couldn't wait.
"It was a very exciting week for me," Jeremy's grandmother Mary Lane said. "I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat." "It's been crazy," Trae Lane, Jeremy's brother added. "The past two weeks, its been hard. But the countdown is over, its game time."
Seeing their cousin, brother, or nephew playing on the world's biggest stage has the Lane relatives counting their blessings.
"Representing East Texas is one of the things, " Jeremy's uncle Lamont Lane said. "I never thought I would personally know somebody that is in the super bowl. So my nephew being there is a blessing."
Super bowl parties are happening all over the world, but you throw a family member in the mix, and the atmosphere goes to a whole other level.
"Yea it makes it kind of interesting, Lamont said." "I have always been a football fan, but there is something more to it this time around." "I get a little teary eyed sometimes, but I get over it, "Jeremy's sister Ambra Lane said. Jeremy's daughter Jaya Lane added, "Its good and special, and I like daddy playing football and running around."
Team Lane coming together on this special occasion only makes sense to celebrate Jeremy's journey to success.
"We have always been a close family, so its an amazing feeling," Ambra said. Lamont added, "This little guy used to run around with a snotty nose and hard head. But look at him on the field now doing his thing. Living out his dream."
A dream the Lane family is happy to share.
