Lindale 'Fill the Helmet' Drive Press Release

Released by the Lindale Fire Department:

Lindale Firefighter(FF) Joe Yeakley remains in stable but critical condition in Parkland Hospital in Dallas being treated for burns he sustained when a roof collapsed on him early in the morning on Friday, January 17.   Yeakley is a 14-year veteran with Lindale Fire Department with a total of over 30 years in the fire service.  Multiple Benefits have been set up to raise money to help his family with expenses while FF Yeakley is recovering.

Today, Firefighters from all 11 Volunteer Fire Departments in Smith County were participating in the Fill the Helmet drive.  With these firefighters joining forces as well as the sale of the "Fighting For Joe" t-shirts beginning today and the Bake Sale that was held at Simply Bertie's, we were able to raise over $30,000 today (Saturday February 1st).  It is due to the giving hearts of the people of East Texas that made this all possible and for this, the Yeakley family and Lindale Fire Department are grateful.  With the money that has been raised to date, many of the needs of the Yeakley family will be met.  However, his recovery will in no way be a quick one and your financial support will be needed for many months to come.  The Lindale Fire Department Facebook page will remain the best source for up to date information on benefits as well as needs for the Yeakley Family.  Please continue your prayers and support for FF Yeakley and his family as well as the Lindale Fire Department.
