Gregg museum hosting black history exhibit

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A month-long exhibit at an East Texas museum is celebrating the contributions of African Americans to our local history. The exhibit is called 'Rose Gallery of Pioneers.'

It went on display tonight at the Gregg county historical museum in Longview to kick off black history month. The exhibit features 4 families that pioneered East Texas along with rare photographs and period artifacts.

"We're honoring several families from this area that have helped build this area, and the way they lived you know this is a pretty good indication of the way life was many years ago," says museum board member Mary Ramos.

The exhibit will be on display until the end of February.
