ETX school bus crashes, parents notified 45 minutes later

Posted: Updated:
MOUNT PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) -

Mount Pleasant ISD officials say a communication breakdown resulted in some parents not being told for nearly an hour about a school bus crash.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon on Highway 271 and Interstate 30 in Mount Pleasant.

Mount Pleasant ISD officials tell us a pickup truck crashed into the side of the school bus.

The Mount Pleasant ISD superintendent says there were students on the bus, but no one on the bus was hurt.

He says the bus is contracted out to Durham Bus Services and a Durham supervisor was late in notifying the district about the crash, causing a 45 minute delay until parents were notified.

Those parents later picked their children up from the school bus barn.

The superintendent says the situation is unacceptable and they are looking into the matter.

The driver of the pickup druck, a woman, was cited for driving without a license.
