Teachers Dressing Casual For A Serious Cause

For the month of October, casual Friday has moved to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for Cain Elementary School teachers in Whitehouse. Teachers are wearing jeans to raise money in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here's how it works. They can either pay a dollar a day or pay an up-front fee of $20 to wear jeans everyday to work. The money raised this year will got to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Lannette Burlingame, chairwoman of the school's social committee says, "We have a campus made up of mostly women... We have one man and even his mother had an experience with breast cancer. We just felt like it was something that really hit home with us."

"My colleagues make fun of me..." says Pre-K teacher Teresa Hughes laughing. "I have every outfit planned that I'm wearing in October, so tomorrow I'll be wearing my green jeans and my white and green shirt!"

Last year the teachers donated $1,800 to breast cancer research. This year they hope to exceed that amount.
