7 from 7: Stories for your Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

Good afternoon! Hope your day has been great so far.

Here is a list of stories we think you'll want to peruse this afternoon:

1. Guess who's going to the State of the Union address tonight? Willie Robertson, of Duck Dynasty fame, will be in the House gallery as the guest of U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister. We'll be streaming the address live on our website beginning at 8pm CST.

2. The farm bill deal that is being considered in the House would continue subsidies for farmers, but would cut food stamps by 1 percent. That's equal to about $800 million per year for the next five years, if it passes. More details here.

3. A jailer at the Harrison County Sheriff's Office was arrested and charged with credit and debit card abuse on Thursday. The jailer, Teresa Webb, was fired and arrested immediately.

4. An East Texas man was arrested on drug charges after police found methamphetamine ... in his underwear.

5. A body found in a burning car in May 2013 in the Jackson Heights area of Smith County has finally been identified. The female victim was 62-year-old Janet Bagwell McVickers. However, she did not die as a result of the fire, forensic tests showed.

6. A former East Texas police captain was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to depriving citizens of their rights to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.

7. The Obama administration is threatening a veto of legislation that would permanently ban federal funds for abortion. In a statement on Monday, the administration said the measure would intrude on women's reproductive rights and prohibit the ability of individuals to spend their own money on insurance coverage for abortion under President Barack Obama's health care law.

Here's the link to our livestream; we'll be live on the web at KLTV.com if you're not near your tv today.

We'll see you soon!
