EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - We are waking up to mild temperatures across the area. Temperatures are in the 40s is most locations. Look for increasing clouds today as an arctic front arrives. This front will drop temperatures during the day and pick up winds through the afternoon hours. A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect during the day for the entire area. This means winds are likely to gust over 30mph. During the same time, cold air will be rushing into the region bringing dropping temperatures. This afternoon temps will be down into the 30s with wind chills in the 20s! Tonight, clouds will continue to increase and a disturbance will pass to our south bringing with it more cloud cover and the chance for some light snow, especially for our southern communities. Some light accumulations will be possible for places like, Houston, Trinity, Polk, Tyler, Jasper and Newton counties. Winter Storm Watches are in effect for those areas for tonight through Tuesday. Look for the light snow to possibly continue through the first half of Tuesday, especially south. Otherwise, expect windy and cold conditions for the region Tuesday, with highs struggling to get above freezing. Skies begin to clear and winds begin to calm Tuesday night which will lead for temps to drop into the teens area wide.
