(KLTV) - Wood County's Kasey Musgraves made East Texas proud on Sunday night, taking home the Grammy for Best Country Album for "Same Trailer Different Park."

Musgraves, who graduated from Mineola High School in 2006, also won a Grammy for Best Country Song earlier in the evening for her hit song "Merry Go 'Round." She was also nominated in that category for her work as a songwriter on Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart."

She was also nominated for Best New Artist, an award that ultimately went to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

Musgraves shot into the national spotlight while competing on season five of Nashville Star, where she finished seventh. At age 18, she was the youngest contestant on the show that year.

Since then, Musgraves won a CMA Award in 2013 for Best New Artist, as well as five other nominations, including Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. She has written songs for Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and Gretchen Wilson.

Her album, "Same Trailer Different Park" peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Country charts and No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 charts in 2013. It has sold 302,000 copies as of January 14.
