Recruiting specialist Randy Rodgers visits Tyler

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Recruiting specialist Randy Rodgers was at the APEC Training Center today to talk with potential college stars and their parents about the recruiting process.

"The Blue Chip Recruiting Round-Up"is for current juniors and sophomores. Rodgers who has been a consultant and recruiting analyst since 1998 currently works with Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine and Fox Sports Southwest. Some of the 2015 and 2016 recruits are already talking with colleges, but Rodgers wants them to know the truth's and misconceptions of recruiting, especially that division I football isn't make or break.

"You look at the numbers and there is about three percent of all Texas high school seniors that get a chance to play division I, Rodgers said." He added, "So I think that's part of the education process is figuring out what's happening to you because the same things are happening to kids all over." TK-Gorman wide receiver Connor Hobbs said, "He figures out where you are and what potential you have. Maybe you aren't the best player, or you are the best player. He finds out your potential and helps put you in a college and a look to where you fit the best."

Each recruit in attendance has sent their highlight tape to Rodgers. In addition to sharing information today, Rodgers will help some East Texans get more exposure down the line.
