Game warden saves pup from cold water while checking on fisherman

Posted: Updated:
COMAL COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Texas game warden was checking on a fisherman in a remote area when he made an unusual discovery.

According to Texas Parks & Wildlife, a Comal County game warden was checking on a fisherman in a kayak Thursday when he noticed something in the water swimming towards his patrol boat. Upon closer inspection, he saw that it was a dog.

The game warden grabbed the pup out of the water and brought it aboard. He saw that the pup had no collar and was concerned for the animal's safety since the water temperature Thursday was only about 53 degrees. He could also tell the small pup was in need of a meal.

He offered the pup a ride back to shore and then turned it over to the New Braunfels Humane Society.

Comal County is located 60 miles southwest of Austin.
