This evening and tonight, winds will turn out of the north and northeast, will stay that way tomorrow, then will return out of the south and southwest over the weekend, warming us up again. Winds in the 12-25 mph range are likely overnight tonight and tomorrow, settling down some over the weekend. With regards to the chances for sleet/snow over the next few days, there are chances...mainly south of I-20 and even better chances south of Hwy 79. Amounts are likely to be very small, from just a dusting to near .10"-.25"of snow/sleet over the southern most areas in East Texas...some of the models are showing nearing .50" to .75" over Deep East Texas.
ALL of the forecast models have changed significantly from yesterday, and I am certain they will continue to change throughout the next 24 hours, or until the chances for this wintry precip begin. Please understand that these models DO NOT handle snowfalll in places where snowfall is rare, so we will do our best to pinpoint this precip as we near the event.
Chances for some wintry precip could begin as early as tomorrow afternoon in the form of sleet, mixed with some cold rain, then turn into a sleet/snow mix tomorrow evening/overnight and then just snow early Friday morning. After that, the precip chances end and the sun should begin to shine through some of the clouds by Friday afternoon.
The weekend looks very nice... cold during the mornings, more mild during the afternoons.
