Tyler teenagers arrested after trying to steal a dump truck

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Two Tyler teenagers are in custody after trying to steal a small dump truck. 

The Tyler Police Department says the truck was parked in a driveway in the 2800 block of Garden Valley Road, near Boulter Middle School in Tyler. 

Officers say the teens got in the truck and were trying to steal it when the owner walked out of his house and saw them. 

The suspects ran towards Bolter Middle School. Officers arrested them after a short chase.

Tyler police say 18-year-old Tylon Thomas was taken to the Smith County Jail and is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest. 

The 13-year-old suspect was taken to the Smith County Juvenile Attention Center and is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. 

No one was hurt.
