LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - On Wednesday, the suspect from a hit-and-run accident that killed 33-year-old Tabitha Lynn Herriage Rodriguez contacted Longview police.

Longview police say the accident occurred on December 21, 2013 at approximately just after midnight in the 1600 block of South Green Street in Longivew. Witnesses say that Rodriguez was walking in the northbound lane of traffic when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and drove away, headed northbound.

Rodriguez was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

Police are finishing up the investigation before sending the case to the district attorney's office for consideration.

The suspect was not arrested when he contacted police because there was not a warrant issued for him at the time.
