Crime Stoppers Programs Receive Nearly $45,000

Governor Rick Perry is awarding nearly half-a-million dollars in grants to Texas Crime Stoppers programs.

Almost $45,000 is going to five East Texas programs. They include Tyler-Smith County, Athens-Henderson County, Sulphur Springs-Hopkins County, Rusk County, and Hallsville High School.

Those Crime Stoppers programs plan to use the money in different ways, including providing better training and upgrading technology.

The money comes from the federal Crime Stoppers Assistance Fund.
