TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An unidentified woman contacted the Tyler Police Department from a Family Dollar Monday to notify them of a possible kidnapping on Monday.

According to Tyler Police Department, the woman told authorities that her boyfriend had taken her against her will from her residence in Smith County. Police later determined that the woman had changed her story and was not taken against her will.

"The girl was really shaken up. She had scratches and bruises and stuff on her," Tomeka Murrell, the store manager at Family Dollar, said. "He threatened to kill her. That's what she told us."

The woman's boyfriend had allegedly taken several items from the Family Dollar located at 3505 Frankston Highway without paying for them.

"I just felt something wasn't right, even about the money," she said.

An employee attempted to stop him and followed out into the parking lot. When he reached his vehicle, he removed a weapon from the back and placed it in front with him.

"As she was walking to go get it he got out of his truck and got in the bed of the truck and pulled out a gun," she said.

The store employee stopped her attempt to stop him when the man produced the weapon. The man fled the area before officers arrived.

Police have obtained the identity of the man and are now seeking an arrest warrant for aggravated robbery.

No charges are being sought at this time for kidnapping.
