For parents with kids enrolled in these school districts, it means you now have the option to transfer your child to either another school in the district, or apply for a seat at a neighboring district for the 2014-2015 school year.
Here's how the state determines if your school is doing poorly:
The first measure is if a school has more than 50% of its students failing any subject area on standardized testing for two of the last three years. The second is if campuses received the rating of "academically unacceptable" or "improvement required" in either 2011 or 2013. Just some of the schools in our northern counties are in Longview ISD.
Three of the six poorly performing campuses that made the list from the district were also given the rating of "improvement required." Down in deep East Texas, four Nacogdoches ISD schools are on the list, with three of them designated as "improvement required"
