LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Authorities have determined that there was no foul play in the death of a woman whose body was found partially buried near a creek in October.

According to the Longview Police Department, homicide has been ruled out in the death of 40-year-old Maria Raquel Johnson. Although a toxicology report has not been returned, police say no foul play was involved in her death. However, the person responsible for transporting Johnson's body and partially burying her will be charged with tampering with evidence/a human corpse.

Police released the description of a vehicle that may have been used to transport Johnson's body just days after her body was found. Authorities ask anyone who may have seen an early 2000's model Chevrolet Suburban or similar SUV parked near the 1000 block of Sabine Street on October 13 to contact them. The SUV may be burgundy in color with double rear doors.

Witnesses told investigators that a Hispanic male was seen leaving the woods near the vehicle that day.

An officer discovered Johnson's body near a small creek in southwest Longview off of Sabine Street on October 14. The officer was investigating a suspicious activity call near the area at 1:42 p.m. After completing the assignment, an officer was walking back to his car when something caught his attention. Johnson's body was found lying a short distance away.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective David Cheatham at 903-237-1147 or 903-452-3514. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Gregg County Crimestoppers at 903-236-7867.
