SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Rancho Solano private schools plan to close their Hillcrest and Gilbert campuses at the end of the current school year, administration officials said.

The school said it has decided to move all early learning and lower school education to Greenway and all middle school and high school education to Ventura, said Audrey Menard, head of the school.

"To fulfill our mission in the future, we are embarking on a strategic planning process that will guide our school for the next five years," Menard said in a statement.

One parent lashed out at the timing of the school's announcement.

"To announce a closing of the school for 2015 enrollment at this time is poor judgment on Rancho's behalf," one parent who wished to remain anonymous wrote in an email. "Parents in the local community are scrambling to figure out where to place their children for the 2015 school year which begins in August."

Menard said the school made the right decision.

"This will pave the way for accelerated investment that continues to build a school recognized for a rigorous, personalized approach to learning," she said.

A meeting is planned Wednesay at 6:30 p.m. for Hillcrest families. The Hillcrest campus is located at 7877 W. Hillcrest Blvd. in Peoria.
