Boil water notice issued for Gladewater after mechanical failure at plant
GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) -
A boil water notice has been issued for the City of Gladewater after a mechanical failure at the city's water treatment plant.
According to the City of Gladewater, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the Gladewater water system to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and making ice should all be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources.
The mechanical failure has been repaired and when it is no longer necessary to boil water, water system officials will notify consumers water is safe for consumption.
Any questions concerning this matter may be directed to Casey Chambers at Gladewater Utilities Director at 903-374-1981. The TCEQ may be reached at 512-239-4691.
