Cherokee County deputy injured after two-vehicle accident

Posted: Updated:
JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - A Cherokee County deputy sheriff suffered minor injuries after he was involved in a traffic accident around 1 p.m. on Monday in Jacksonville.

Cherokee County Department of Public Safety troopers say the deputy, who is not being identified at this time, was struck by another driver who failed to yield at a stop sign and broadsided the deputy's patrol car.

Sheriff James Campbell says the driver of the other vehicle was cited for failing to yield and for being uninsured. The deputy was taken to the emergency room in a private vehicle.

Both vehicles were totaled.
