Record lows may be set Tuesday morning, Hard Freeze Warning in effect

(KLTV) -

There is a Hard Freeze Warning again for most of East Texas tonight. The counties affected  are Franklin, Titus, Morris, Cass, Camp, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Harrison, Gregg, Smith, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Shelby and Nacogdoches. Most Deep East Texas counties are in the warning as well.

Look for Tuesday morning temps to be well down into the teens.

Record lows may fall tomorrow morning as well. Temperature records are 13 degrees for Tyler in 1912, 12 degrees for Longview in 1912 and 16 degrees for Lufkin in 1910.

Tuesday afternoon will begin a warm up that will continue through the end of the work week.

Clouds and rain chances will be on the increase as we approach midweek. Look for a few isolated showers Wednesday, followed by higher rain chances late in the week. The weekend forecast looks great. The sunshine should return with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 50s.

Protect the 3 P's....(4th P - Plants, if they have survived the winter thus far)

PEOPLE... Please make sure that EVERYONE is protected from this extreme cold.

PETS... Bring them indoors. If that is not possible, make sure they have plenty of food and a place to escape from the cold.

PIPES... These temperatures will likely burst exposed pipes. Make sure they are wrapped/insulated properly during this extended period of below freezing temperatures.
