Bond set for woman accused of stabbing neighbor in head

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A Tyler woman has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair after a Saturday night stabbing. Vanessa Carr, 54, remains in the Smith County Jail on $200,000 bond.

The victim, identified as Tommie Shackleford, is undergoing surgery at a Dallas-area hospital.

According to Tyler Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of West Harmony Street just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday in relation to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officials found Shackleford, Carr's neighbor, had been stabbed in the ear and head with a kitchen knife.

Shackleford was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler and later transported to a Dallas-area hospital.

Smith County judicial records show that Carr pled guilty to a second degree felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2009 and was sentenced to four years in prison.
