Auburn players prepare as BCS Championship Week begins

PASADENA, CA (WTVM) -

Greetings from California as the BCS Championship Week begins!

The Auburn Tigers are glory bound as they hit the home stretch in the pursuit of their second national title in four seasons.

News Leader 9's Dave Platta joined us live from Pasadena, Ca. with a preview of the big match-up.

The Tigers hit the practice field Thursday afternoon, working out at nearby UC Irvine. The next few days are to cement the work they've been doing to prepare to face top-ranked Florida State.

Today, the Tiger offensive players met with the media and Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall was heaping praise on his offensive line.

"Those are my guys. They protect me with everything they have in them," said Marshall. "I just believe in them and they believe in me, also. I believe we've got the best offensive line there is because they work so hard at what they do, they just take pride and to block, how they block their scheme, and it's just something that's just like a brotherhood we have with each other. It's just like another family. I'm just proud to be an Auburn man. Obviously they are, too, so it's just something that we just look at and just like love one another."

Coming up tonight at 6 p.m. Eastern, the Tigers talk about head coach Gus Malzahn and the one thing they think he does better than any other coach in the nation.

When the town of Gilmer is mentioned in relation to sports, the Buckeyes powerhouse football program immediately comes to mind. And that's fair considering they have won three state titles and racked up 13 double digit win seasons since 2000. But a small 1A school about nine miles away deserves some attention these days as well.
