A woman was able to flee her home to safety after a fire broke out on Thursday morning.
The homeowner, a senior citizen who was home alone, told firefighters that she was putting on her make up when she noticed the smell of smoke in her house.
She got up to investigate, and went into the living room, she says, where she saw fire near her couch. She immediately fled the home and went to a neighbor's house to call 911. Thankfully, she was uninjured.
Fire marshal Jim Seaton says that crews were able to put out the fire with the structure intact, but that there was considerable smoke and heat damage to the home.
