My half-sister had been fighting breast cancer and last Friday the cancer won the battle. I lived in a different home than her and I am so very sad that I did not get to know my sister real well. My wife and I were planning a trip to see her in January after my wife retired from ETMC. I got the call Saturday from my sister Beth Garcia of Longview that she had passed and we left Sunday after church to go to her funeral in Lake Charles on Monday morning.
She fought hard - she was off the chemo for the Christmas holidays. She was just about to retire from food service in a public school.
My heart is broken right now, but I know that one day I will see her as we all stand before Jesus Christ and he will wipe away the tears we have on the side of the veil.
Cancer has been nasty to our family. I lost a cousin to cancer at the same time I had cancer myself. We talked to each other from our hospital beds, him MD Anderson and me at a Air Force/V.A hospital in Albuquerque N.M.
