COLUMBIA, SC (RNN) - After a close first half, South Carolina grabbed a 27-point lead in the second, soundly defeating Marshall 92-65 at home on Monday.

The Gamecocks (6-6) shot more than half of their 66 field goals, half of their 12 3-pointers and 18 out of 25 free throws. The Thundering Herd (5-8) kept it close in the first half - even grabbing a one-point lead - until they fell far behind in the second. Marshall had a dismal night in shooting, making 38 percent of field goals and only one out of 14 3-pointers.

Tyrone Johnson and Brenton Williams both led South Carolina in shooting, scoring 18 points each.

This was the Gamecocks' third straight win, and they will play their final nonconference game of the season at home against South Carolina State on Friday, Jan. 3.
