LEWISBURG, TN (WSMV) -

A promising young life ended tragically at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday on a busy residential road.

"I thought that a tree had fallen on my house, it was such a loud crash," said Fred Hart, who lives at the house where the crash happened.

Brice Carr, 17, was killed when the truck he was driving swerved off Hull Avenue and hit a tree.

"It came over the hill and lost control on the wet street," Hart said.

Hart was one of the first people on the scene. He saw Carr's truck wrapped around the tree.

"I knew that whoever was in there was in bad shape," Hart said. "I ran down there to see if there was anything I could do. Then, I knew there was nothing I could do but call for help."

"I called 911;  the first time I ever used it in my life," Hart said.

Hart says emergency crews were on the scene in minutes, but it was too late.

The Lewisburg teen died on the scene. Carr was a senior at Marshall County High School. On Twitter, there was an outpour of support from fellow classmates.

Meanwhile, people who live along Hull Avenue say there is a history of accidents there and they hope something will change soon.

"That's not the first wreck that's ever been in that lot," MaryRene Baxter said. "There was one years ago where a car flipped over like that."

Lewisburg police say the wet roads were a factor in the crash.
