LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man is behind bars after he was arrested Saturday for driving while intoxicated with a one year old in the car with him.

Randy Eckenfels, 28, of Lufkin is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.

According to Sgt. Mike Shurley with the Lufkin Police Department, officers were called out to a wreck in the area of the 1700 block of Frank Avenue.

"Once on scene, officers observed a bottle containing 94 pills of Carisoprodol," Shurley said. "He was suspected of being intoxicated based on the amount of prescription drugs he had on him."

Shurley said that the one-year-old child is now in the custody of his grandfather.

Charges are pending until the department receives the results from a blood test.

"Those tests can take anywhere from six to eight weeks," Shurley said.
