Texas Rose Festival Kicks-Off

The 71st annual Texas Rose Festival got underway last night with a dedication service. Rose Queen Lauren French Sanford, festival participants, volunteers and their families attended the Vespers Service at Tyler's Marvin United Methodist Church. Dutchess of the Rose Growers, Allison Denise Hand, also addressed the crowd.

This year's festival, with the theme, Treasures, officially began this morning at 10 at the Rose Garden Center in Tyler with a ribbon cutting. The rose show and activities continue until 6 p.m.

The Coronation Matinee began at 1:30 p.m. at UT Tyler's Cowan Center. The Queen's Coronation is at 7:30 p.m. at the Cowan Center. The Rose Festival parade will be held this Saturday morning.
