E. Texas soldier welcomed home for Christmas

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

She made it through basic training just in time for the holidays. U.S. Army Private Kirstin Roush came back to East Texas and was greeted by a group of people who really love their "work"- the Welcome Home Soldiers group.

Kirstin Roush was a little overwhelmed seeing her boyfriend and family again, but for her, the greeting from Welcome Home Soldiers was almost too much.

"I didn't realize that so many people that I didn't even know were proud of me," Kirstin said.

Before the hug fest, Welcome Home Soldiers had to give Kirstin's boyfriend, Adam Childress, a little recognition during his break from the Air Force. Then it was time for the main act.

Kirstin Roush is a 91-C, which means she fixes heating and cooling.

"Everything from in Hum-V's to giant refrigeration systems that store medicine to save other soldier's lives. So I am a very important role in the United States Army," Kirstin revealed.

She did her best to show everyone there how much she appreciated the warm recognition.

"Thank you all so much for your love and support. It's completely overwhelming and I'm just so glad to be back. I'm so glad to spend this time with these people that I love so dearly, and would take the time and the effort to put something like this together. It truly means a lot and I am really blessed to have these people in my life," Kirstin said.

It's a pretty great way to start her Christmas vacation. After the holidays Kirstin will be stationed at Fort Hood.
