Flames shoot from the pick-up even after workers piled dirt onto it
WHITE OAK, TX (KLTV) -
Fire units responded to a vehicle fire in a construction area near White Oak Friday morning.
Just after 9 a.m., crews from the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a construction site on Highway 80 near the intersection of Highway 42.
Workers at the construction site were using a saw to cut metal near the back of a pick-up truck, throwing sparks into the truck's bed. Cans of gasoline were located in the bed and were ignited by the sparks.
Before fire crews arrived, the workers attempted to extinguish the blaze by using a backhoe to dump a large amount of dirt on the truck. The men were unable to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters arrived shortly and were able to use water to completely extinguish the fire. The pick-up is a total loss. No injuries have been reported.
