EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Today we will see mostly cloudy skies with a few showers this afternoon and evening, maybe even a few rumbles of thunder. Highs will top out in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The storm prediction center has issued a slight risk for severe weather today that does encompass a few East Texas counties, but that threat is minimal today. That threat does increase overnight and into your Saturday. Skies will be cloudy overnight with showers and thunderstorms moving in from the west. Temperatures will drop into the mid 60s on average.
The storms that move in overnight do have the potential to become severe with the biggest threat being strong damaging winds. The storms will linger into the first half of the day Saturday, with the biggest chance for severe weather occurring after sunrise and before 3pm.
Again the biggest threat for us here in East Texas will be damaging winds, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Highs on Saturday will be in the lower 70s.
