Gift Of Love: Christina

Almost two years ago, we introduced you to a sweet girl named Christina. The 7 year old told she "wants a family who will love her." Unfortunately, she is still waiting... Now 9, we spent time with her again in Tyler. We discovered Christina remains hopeful her forever family will soon be found.

"I like Chuck E Cheese's. It's a fun place. You get to do a bunch of stuff too," says Christina gleefully.

Christina has an outgoing personality and enough energy to outlast any 9 year old. "She's bubbly, upbeat and active. There are times when she gets down, but overall she's just a very happy child," explains Melanie Latimore her caseworker with Child Protective Services.

I asked this charming little girl, "What makes you happy?" She replies quickly with a big smile, "Going shopping!" It's a smile that can melt your heart.

Christina never meets a stranger and plays well with other children. Although homework is a challenge for her, she works hard at her education. "I like school. It's a good thing. I like math, softball and cheerleading. I want to be a cheerleader some day."

Christina has no significant behavior problems. She describes herself as "a nice girl."

"I got my hair cut last week and I think it's really, really pretty. It was down to my chest. I was nice and they're going to give it to the love box for people who have cancer," she says sincerely.

This young girl keeps a positive attitude despite what she's been through. She was removed from her home because of abuse. "I have been in foster care for about 3 years."

"She really wants her own family right now," says Melanie. And Christina knows what she wants. "A really, really nice mom and dad," she says.

Melanie says, "For her self esteem it's very important for her to find a family because right now she does battle with self esteem and her self worth. Once she finds a forever family I think she will blossom."

The Gift of Love can help plant the seed to make sure she blossoms, reaching her full potential.
