Private Schools, Colleges, University Support TISD Bond

Another group in Tyler is throwing their support behind the TISD bond.

They're calling themselves Educators For TISD. And today, they announced their endorsement of the $96-million school bond.

The educators are from local private schools, Texas College, TJC, and UT-Tyler. The university's president says better schools mean better students for higher education.

"For the university, getting great students out of TISD is important to us," Dr. Rod Mabry said. "The bulk of our students come from this area, of course, and that's true for TJC and Texas College as well. So we want to have great students. And having the right atmosphere inside those buildings matters for education."

Early voting begins on Monday. And Election Day is November 2.
