Senate majority leader Bill Frist is attacking Democratic Vice-presidential candidate John Edwards regarding a comment he made about the late Christopher Reeve.
Edwards said, "If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do, when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve will get up out of that wheelchair and walk again."
In advance of tonight's debate, Edwards was taking practice shots yesterday on domestic issues, specifically stem cell research. It's an issue re-elevated into the headlines since Reeve's death Sunday.
Frist who was a heart surgeon before becoming a republican senator, called Edwards comments about Reeve's death "crass" and "shameful".
